BLACK LIVES MATTER> TRAYVON MARTIN

Trayvon Martin's life was tragically taken away from him by local neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in Sanford, FL on Feb. 26, 2012. Martin was walking back home from his local 7-11 after purchasing a single bag of skittles and an Arizona iced tea. On his walk home he noticed that he was being followed by a strange many he did not know, which we later found out was Zimmerman. Zimmerman called the Sanford police department and reported Martin as a suspicious character, assumingly based on his 'demeanor' and now symbolic black hoodie, and disobeyed police orders by continuing to pursue the 17-year old boy. An altercation ensued between the two, and Martin was later fatally shot by Zimmerman. It took nearly two months for Zimmerman to be arrested, but he was eventually charged on April 11th, 2012 with 2nd degree murder for the killing of Martin. Despite an overwhelming amount of contradictions in Zimmermans testimony, he pleaded self defense and was eventually found not guilty of the crime.
